My parents took the family and our new family--The Humbles!--to see the Dodgers! Baseball games are always fun and the kids did wonderfully. Jake drank Coke to his heart's content and actually asked for food--nachos. It was a baseball miracle! Benjamin and Ruby pounded French fries and chocolate malts.
And...we got on the big stadium screen!!! We had four babies and Jake to wave around in the air so we were a shoe-in! Glad that's checked off my bucket list. It was so fun! We're famous!

Lombardi's Ranch
I finally got to introduce Scott to my favorite Halloween tradition: picking pumpkins at Lombardi's Ranch! We went twice this year. Once with family and once with our friends the Petersons! Sophie and Jake are good little buddies and they had tons of fun running around, picking up pumpkins, pushing the cart, playing on the haystacks and eating goodies.
Jake was particularly enamored with the "baby" pumpkins. He kept moving them around into different piles or pairing them up with "momma" pumpkins. I just love his sweet little heart.

the fourth of july
How do you know that you're in the South for Fourth of July?
The parade consists of various cars and wagons filled with hillbilly impersonators and
a bajillion beauty pageant toddlers.
The fair is held in a field that is packed with seep-in-between-your-toes mud.
The BBQ plate you wait forever in line for doesn't come with any BBQ sauce.
(gah! These NC'ers like this vinegar water mixture on their pork. yuck.)
Fireworks don't start til 10pm because it gets dark so late.
You get eaten alive by mosquitos.
What a Fourth!!! Honestly, it was fun. We had a cook-out with our friends the Bundys.
We ate our weight in caramel corn balls.
We played with sparklers in the front yard.
Truly fun.

little badin library
Badin is a teeny, tiny town about ten minutes away. It's quintessential Mayberry, USA. American flags line the streets and it's sleepy, quiet and peaceful. And it's library--just one room--is adorable. Our buddies and we were the only ones in there! It was heavenly. The boys played with puzzles and colored and picked book after book off the shelves. J laughed and laughed at a Lion King book that made hyena sounds. He's such a ham. Later, they got their wiggles out on the playground. Boys are just so much fun.
