- Jake loves to sleep in so waking him up at 6:45 every morning to get ready for school has been a challenge. One time, he pulled the covers back over his face and pleaded, "Just let me sleep!"
- He only wants to wear basketball pants or shorts to school. He hates jeans. So, we are investing in basketball shorts right and left. It's just not a battle I choose to fight anymore.
- He eats a pop tart or toast for breakfast. And his pop tart has to be free of cracks. If there is the slightest crack in his Pop Tart he cries, "It's broken!" and he won't eat it.
- Jake is earning stickers for good behavior. Every time he plays nicely with the twins, throws out his trash, or goes pee pee on the potty he earns a sticker. It makes me so happy to see it working. He gets so excited when he does something praiseworthy now and jumps with his hands in the air, "I get a sticker!" When he earns 20 stickers, he gets a chocolate milk. Yes, chocolate milk is that powerful of an incentive for Jake. He could drink it all day long.
- School is a little rough on Jake. He covers his face as he walks in to class but is smiling underneath his hands. He still doesn't feel completely comfortable and it breaks my heart. He has the sweetest teacher, Mrs. Linda, who takes care of him though. When I pick him up from school I never know the reaction I am going to get. He's either super happy and wants to show me the things he brought home in his backpack, or he yells, "I don't want to go to school anymore!"
- Captain America and Boba Fett from Star Wars are his current heroes. He loves to wear his Captain America costume and throw his shield. He wants a Captain America birthday party when he turns four in June.
- We got LA Zoo memberships and Jake and I went together one day with Brittany, Ryder and Caroline. At the zoo, we saw the anteater and it was huge and crazy looking. Jake turned to me and said, "Mom, I need to get in there and kill it with my shield." I love the crazy-cute-hilarious things he says.
- Scott bought me a super awesome vacuum recently and when we took it out of the box Jake hugged it and said, "Oh, it's perfect for me!" Apparently, he thought we really needed that vacuum, too.
- Jake LOVES his dog. He calls her Luna Doggie and is always wanting to pet (but he says "pettle") her, wrestle with her, sleep with her, take her on walks and to the doggie park. he insists on holding the leash when we go for walks. And he is always concerned that Luna wants to see her friends. Even though that dog MAJORLY tries my patience, Jake adores her. He also hugs her and tells me, "Luna is the best doggie. She is a good doggie, Mom." I guess I yell at the dog a little too much. Whoops.
- Jake loves watching Star Wars, Captain America, Curious George, Puss n Boots, Bob Zoom. He calls them, "Jakey shows" and cries when I tell him we are going to watch a "Mommy show."
- Jake LOVES his daddy. He always wants to be near him, wrestle with him, run errands with him, go to the dog park with him, and play games with him. They have really bonded the last seven or so months and it is so sweet to see. I love that Scott and Jake are building such a strong father-son relationship.
- Jake is starting to like Primary haha. It was a struggle at first. He wants to sit by me the whole time since I am in there with him (I'm 2nd counselor.) His favorite Primary song is "Do As I'm Doing" and "The Wise Man and the Foolish Man."
- Picky, picky eater still. He lives off of milk, water, chocolate milk, chocolate muffins from Costco (but only eats the tops), Pirate's Booty, Toast, Pop Tarts, fruit snacks, Mac n Cheese, Chex Mix, Yogurt Raisins, Granola Bars, Pizza etc. It's all snacks. I can't remember the last time he ate a fruit or vegetable. I'm constantly worried about him not eating--I've tried taking away all snacks and he literally will starve himself--but the Pediatrician reassures us that he is completely healthy! She says its just a phase and soon he will be eating us out of house and home. When the pediatrician first tested his iron levels she asked me, "So his iron is awesome! He must eat a lot of green leafy vegetables, huh?!" I laughed and said, "Nope. Not a single bite." She said, "Well, he's healthy nonetheless." I don't get it. haha. But I am glad he is so healthy!
- Jake is still tall and thin with blue eyes and blonde hair. Such a cute boy. Seriously, SO handsome.
We love our silly, sweet, dog-loving, basketball shorts wearing Preschooler!
